Podium Finish for Erickson Motorsports at
San Jose Grand Prix

Brett Erickson finished third in the inaugural running of the Taylor Woodrow San Jose Grand Prix. Brett drove the Bay Area Volkswagen Dealers #12 Volkswagen Golf GTI in the Hankook US Touring Car Championship Series (USTCC).

Brett started the race on the front row, after qualifying second. The race was exciting from start to finish, with several yellow flags, including a 10 minute delay at the beginning of the race while a disabled car was being cleared.

“The track got better and faster each day,” said Brett Erickson, owner and driver of Erickson Motorsports. “Everyone was driving aggressively. We knew this race would be demanding and bring out the best racers in the area. I was in good company with the guys at the front of the pack, so I didn’t worry.”

Brett credits his strong showing to the way his team approached the main event with confidence. “The Erickson Motorsports crew was extremely well prepared. Our goal was to get on the podium. Everyone worked very hard for the weeks preceding the event, and throughout the weekend, and I couldn’t be happier with this result.”

Brett is particularly satisfied because this race was very special to him as a San Jose native. “My family and friends were all here to support me. And my sponsors have been wonderful. Particularly the Bay Area Volkswagen Dealers, Selix Formalwear, Maier Racing, Sias Tuning, SPORT Racing, Sturken Auto Body, ABD Racing, RiehlTek Engine Development, Techtonics Tuning, KW Suspensions, Bildon Motorsport, K&N Filters, and VF Engineering.”

“The Hankook USTCC, Taylor Woodrow, the Canary Fund, and the City of San Jose put together a fantastic event,” Brett continued. “I can’t wait to return next year!”
