1, 2002 Northern California Volkswagen Dealers Team Up With Erickson for 2002 Speedvision Touring Car Season Erickson Motorsports
announced today new sponsorship from Volkswagen of America in
association with the Northern California Dealer Ad Association (NCDAA)
to contest the 2002 SCCA Speedvision World Challenge Touring Car
Championship. Erickson Motorsports and driver/team owner Brett Erickson,
of Sunnyvale, Calif., will campaign the reflex silver Bay Area
Volkswagen Dealer Ad Association 2001 Volkswagen GLX GTI in the 2002
Championship. The partnership is a multi-year marketing campaign
centering on the launch of Volkswagen's new 2002 GTI; Volkswagen's new
high-performance touring class "The GTI is returning
to its roots in model year 2002 by eliminating comfort-oriented
equipment as standard in order to focus on performance," said Michael
Griffin, Operation Support Specialist, Volkswagen of America "I couldn't be more excited," said Erickson, who will battle for Rookie of the Year honors. "Right from this first green flag, I've got to thank Michael Griffin, and his colleagues, Susan Krauss, Vince Schardt and Greg Britto at Volkswagen of America for help making this a reality. With the marketing expertise of these executives at Volkswagen, this is going to be one heck of a promotional program. We are going to generate excitement, interest and increase sales for each of the Bay Area Volkswagen dealerships. This will truly be a 'race on Sunday, sell on Monday' strategy." the Speedvision Touring Car Championship from the NASA GTI Cup series,
