Hankook United States Touring Car Championship Schedule
Announced

The announced 2006 United
States Touring Car Championship (USTCC) schedule shows the series is
carrying over the strength and momentum created during the 2005 season.
The schedule will again feature a number of very notable high-profile
race dates, including a return to Sin City and the first race for the
series outside the United States.
For the first time since 2001, the series will return to Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca in Monterey, California, where the 2006 Championship hunt
will begin on March 10-12. The USTCC race will be held in conjunction
with the inaugural visit of the A1 Grand Prix World Cup of Motorsports
open wheel racing series in the United States.
On April 1-2, the USTCC series will head south of the border to Mexico
for the Mexicali Grand Prix. This will be the series' first headliner
race weekend and will be held on the city streets of Mexicali, Mexico.
The first East Coast race will be held on April 21-23 at Mid-Ohio Sports
Car Course. For the May Classic, the series will visit the brand new,
state-of-the-art Miller Motorsport Park in Utah, where it will host the
series' second annual East-West Shoot Out on May 20-21. The series will
contest the shoot out on the complete 4.5-mile road course, currently
the longest road course in the United States. Then it's off to BeaveRun
Motorsport Complex in Pennsylvania on June 10-11.
The 2006 Championship will then add another Champ Car World Series race
date with the addition of the CCWS Portland Grand Prix on June 16-18.
The annual import-lifestyle themed HyperFest weekend at Summit Point
Raceway, Summit Point, WV, on July 7-9 will then highlight the East
series schedule.
The USTCC will then once again return to the heart of the Silicon Valley
and the streets of downtown San Jose for the second annual San Jose
Grand Prix on July 28-30, where the series posted its largest starting
grid and largest race attendance. From there the series returns to
Mid-Ohio on August 11-13 for the second time.
On August 19-20 the USTCC will head north to Pacific Raceways in Kent,
Washington, in support of the Pacific Raceways 100, a NASCAR Northwest
and Southwest regional series race. This is followed by a busy month of
October with 3 race weekends, starting with Putnam Park in Mount
Meridian, Indiana, on October 7-8. From there the series is off to
fabled Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI, on October 21-22 for the East
Coast finale.
To close out the 2006 USTCC Championship run, the series returns to Sin
City's Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV, on October 28-29,
preceding the opening of the annual SEMA Show.
Created in 2000, the United States Touring Car Championship features
racing among popular sport compact sedans, with close to 100 makes and
models eligible to participate in the series. All competitors race on
the spec tire Hankook Ventus Z211 R-compound race tire.
"It's looking to be a great year for the USTCC," notes Series Director
Ali Arsham. "We can't wait to get the series started in Monterey."
Hankook Race Tire Engineer Dave Martin added, "The USTCC has a great
schedule lined up that includes racing with the Champ Car World Series
and the inaugural U.S. round of the A1 Grand Prix of Nations. The series
has really stepped up this year."
