Brett Erickson began professional auto racing in June of 1998. Brett competed in the National Auto Sport Association (N.A.S.A.) racing organization, driving in the Neuspeed sponsored GTI Cup Series. After working with professional driving coach Robert Orcutt, his karting and club racing skills improved dramatically. Brett’s efforts in NASA earned him a track record at Buttonwillow Raceway, in Buttonwillow, CA, and a second place finish in the 1998 GTI Cup championship as a rookie. Brett was voted "Most Improved Driver of the Year" in 1998 by his fellow competitors. Brett’s final race of 1998 saw him earn 2^nd in class and 12^th overall at the Timex 12 Hour of Thunderhill race, driving the "Team Triantos" enduro-3 GTI Cup Car.

During Brett’s second season in GTI Cup, he set a new track record at Thunderhill Raceway, in Willows, CA, and a N.A.S.A. record by winning nine GTI Cup races in a season, including a string of four in a row! Brett finished the ‘99 GTI Cup Championship in third place. In the 1999 Timex 12 Hour race he placed 8^th in the enduro-3 class and 36^th overall in his own GTI Cup car.

In the 2000 GTI Cup Championship Series, Brett finished 3^rd in the year end standings. Brett bested his own track record at Buttonwillow Raceway on his way to winning four races as well as six second place finishes. At the 2000 Timex 12 Hour, Brett drove for Bill Culter Racing sharing a Mazda Super-RX-7 in the enduro-2 class with Robert Orcutt (ALMS Porsche GT) and Mark Tague (Toyota Atlantic). The trio kept the car 2^nd in class for ten hours before a mechanical failure sidelined the Mazda for several laps… finishing 5^th in class at the final hour.

Brett Erickson’s goal in 2002 is to carry his talents to the next professional level and race in the Speedvision World Challenge Touring Car Series. The Speedvision Touring Car Series is a series that has fast become one of the most exciting and competitive in all of motorsports. Brett will be driving "Volkswagen’s Northern California Dealer Ad Association" sponsored #12 2001 V6 GTI entry.
